Casio Tone Reprise
Born in 1997, Ms. Domicília still lives in the same place: a tiny apartment where original and replica conflate. Her corporeality, so geometrically absurd, so neurotically ordered, speaks of a present that is also, and perhaps increasingly, ours: the reverse of the reverse, the imitation’s imitation. Domicília is virtually capable of reproducing any movement, any intention, without ever telling us who she really is. Reflections of modern life*.

The re-staging of Casio Tone (1997) is dedicated to the memory of Mónica Lapa (1965-2001), a prominent figure in the history of Portuguese dance, who closely followed the beginning of this artistic adventure and was responsible for the photographic record of Ms. Domicília’s most iconic promotional picture.
