Contos baralhados [Jumbled Tales] is the new musical tale from Histórias Magnéticas, with original text and music by Sérgio Pelágio, narrated by actress Isabel Gaivão, followed by an expression workshop.
Contos baralhados is based on a structure that differs from that of the previous tales, for the story is composed of twelve "micro-stories" with no apparent connection between them. Based on unlikely everyday events, these moments traverse dreams, thoughts, and situations that we normally undervalue, but which, if we pay attention to them, reveal quite an amusing and surprising parallel world that summons flying swimmers, cyclist-poets, otolaryngologists, and aliens.
The session is also a game with 12 illustrated and shuffled cards that each audience member is challenged to order while listening to the narration. The resulting sequence will be the starting point for a conversation-workshop that ends with the creation of a concertina book (leporello).
Given the cinematic characteristics of the 12 micro-stories, the Histórias Magnéticas project challenged several directors, video and visual artists, and animators to create a film for each story: Paulo Abreu, Sandra Rosa Dias, Diogo Salgado, Mariana Ramos, Patrícia Rego, Sofia Afonso, Gonçalo Pina, and João Pedro Gomes.
