para Gust 9723

The music on this album comprises new compositions as well as new versions of the soundtrack that I recorded in 1997 for the show GUST by choreographer Francisco Camacho.

In 2023, 26 years after its premiere, a remake of this choreographic piece was presented, for which my proposal and enormous challenge was to musically recover the intensity of the original show’s energy, investing it with the present’s weight and information. I worked on seven precise moments of the piece and left the rest of the soundtrack as it was originally.

The seven tracks were recorded in just one day, which was only possible thanks to Mário’s and Alex’s total and unconditional dedication, supported by André Tavares’ mastery and “ear”. Herewith the compositions as I imagined them at the outset, prior to the cuts – tracks 1, 2, 3 and 7 did not make it into the show’s final lineup – and the adjustments to the choreographic composition.
