The concert, with text by André Lepecki, was part of Os 7 Pecados Mortais (The 7 Deadly Sins), a Culturgest production that premiered on October 10 and 11, 1998, in Culturgest’s main auditorium, and featured compositions by: Pedro Moreira (Pride), Bernardo Sassetti (Avarice), João Ricardo Oliveira (Lust), Isabel Soveral (Wrath), Vítor Rua (Gluttony), Sérgio Pelágio (Envy), and Carlos Marecos (Sloth).
“Strategies to adopt when envious” – a self-help manual to get rid of envy in several steps, or how to go directly from envious to envied.
Sérgio Pelágio, abstract in Os 7 Pecados Mortais booket, Culturgest 1998

Envy is a simple creature, neither divine nor human. Envy is a personified abstraction. Envy lives in a cave, shrouded in thick, dark fog. Envy eats snake meat. Envy never smiles, except at the sight of others' problems. Envy never sleeps, disturbed as it is by its constant alertness. Envy is, in itself, its own punishment. Envy is a poison that spreads throughout the body. Envy is a fierce inner fire. Envy always keeps bad company. Envy is universal, irrespective of social class or age group. Envy does not enjoy a good reputation. Envy is the most savage form of hatred. ENVY KEEPS THE WORLD SPINNING.
